About
Kerempe Lighthouse stands on Cape Kerempe, in the village of Aydıncık in the Cide district. It was built in 1885 during the Ottoman period at the instruction of Michel Pasha, with French engineers working on its construction, and consists of a masonry tower and a keeper's lodge.
Standing 82 metres above sea level, the light carries 20 nautical miles. Its source moved from petroleum to butane gas and finally to electricity over the years, and it has now been in service for 140 years.
Cape Kerempe is the second furthest point out into the Black Sea along this coast, after İnceburun at Sinop.
